Weshine® Oil Tan Delta Test Set (OTD) is explicitly invented for laboratory use, which measures the Tan Delta, Resistivity and Relative Permittivity of insulating liquids. These tests provide a more complete picture of the overall quality of the insulating oil and indicate the presence of any contamination. Weshine has developed the capabilities of the OTD to ensure maximum productivity levels in the laboratory. A microprocessor-controlled induction heater means an even temperature across the battery, in compliance with IEC 60247, and a cooling fan is used to effectively speed up battery cooling time. The instrument has a temperature measurement range of 0 to 120 ºC with an accuracy of ± 1 ºC. It can be set to warm up before the test takes place.

During transformer operation, insulating oils are subject to electrical and mechanical stress. Additionally, high operating temperatures can lead to contamination due to chemical interactions with windings and other solid insulation. As a result, the original chemical properties of the transformer oil gradually changed, and after many years it could not play its due role. Therefore, this oil must be regularly tested to determine its basic electrical properties and ensure its suitability for further use, or the necessary filtration/regeneration must be carried out.

Testing the DC resistivity and Tan-delta/dissipation factor of such insulating oils is one of the most critical tests to determine the condition of the oil.
